New 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited at Lakeland Chrysler Jeep Dodge for Greenville, PA
This Jeep is basically the standard-bearer for off-roading and is frequently seen climbing up steep rock faces like a big insect with tires. Fun to drive around on trails? Check. Useful in that tight spot? Check. Cruising at the beach (and on the beach itself), with a party of 5, towing a jet-ski? Check. Need to get in and out of town and maybe winch a friend out of a muddy section of the local road? The 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited is here with so much capability it hurts. Consider this four-door five-seater, and also new to 2016, The Black Bear Special Edition with its black 17-inch wheels, unique decals, and blackened grille, among other things. Also the Sahara edition has some minor updates inside and out, as Jeep knows there's no need to fix what isn't broken.
Under the Wrangler Unlimited's Hood
Inside that growl you can hear barreling around the mountain is a 285-hp V-6 engine with 260 lb-ft torque (standard), either a 6-speed manual w/OD, or it's a 5-speed automatic w/OD with auto-manual. 4-wheel drive is standard. There is a variable amount of approach (best-in-class at 42.2 degrees) and departure angles to get into before you pick one, depending on your needs, but all are well-proportioned to get you up, down, and back. On the Rubicon for instance, a 73.1:1 crawl ratio (and manual transmission) gets you up and over almost way too easily. There are two different 4x4 systems to agonize over here, but both are proven and tested at this point. The standard Command-Trac NV241 is here and great in the winter conditions, but consider also the Rock-Trac system with more torque and a 4:1 low-gear ratio. There is also a sway bar disconnect system available to compress the front wheels up to 25% further! Towing something 3500 pounds or under is a breeze, with optional Trailer Sway Control as well. Just impressive.
Design of Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Look at these rugged standard features: a V-6 engine, six-speed manual transmission, four-wheel drive, solid front and rear axles, underbody skid plates, soft-top with sunroof, removable side doors, fold-down windshield, full-size spare tire on rear swing-gate, front airbags, antilock brakes, power steering and an electronic stability system! Out of breath? Too bad, these continued features are also available on the Unlimited: block heater, five-speed automatic transmission, dual locking differentials, hardtop with removable overhead sections, alloy wheels, power windows and locks, and even a navigation system for when you return to civilization for more bug spray and matches. This is the vehicle to get out, get over and get through the worst, and then come back thirsty for more! There are four main Trims, all four-door and 4x4: the Sport, Sport RHD, Sahara, and Rubicon, and they are all truly capable machines for what you need. There are also several Limited Edition trims available as well, including the 75th Anniversary Edition! Inside, you get a standard radio with a CD player and steering wheel controls, 8 speakers for rocking out, and also split rear folding seats with laudable cargo room.
What is the fuel economy for the 2016 Wrangler Unlimited?
EPA estimated at 16 city and 21 highway mpg, and on the Sport only, the highway rating goes slightly down to 20 mpg.

The 2016 Wrangler Unlimited, as a matter of course, has built in safety: coming standard on it is integrated roll-over protection, electronic stability, ABS, dual front-impact airbags, traction control, brake assist, immobilizer, and available dual front side impact airbags. With the ground clearances set (best-in-class of 10 inches) and the ramp break angles calculated as Jeep has done here, there will be a ton of fun happening out there in the wild. The 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited can do the challenge, and keep you protected from the elements simultaneously. Whether you are high-tailing it back from the dunes to gain a stronger cell signal to report on an injured seal, or if you need to get over river boulders to arrive at a remote campsite by dusk, the Wrangler Unlimited is your top choice. See you out there.
