GT is new to 2017 and replaces the Limited option. Each 2017 Dodge Durango, except the R/T, is powered by a 3.6-liter V6 engine which generates 290 horsepower, 260 pound-feet of torque and can tow a maximum of 6,200 pounds. The R/T comes standard with a 5.7-liter V8 which can generate 360 horsepower, 260 pound-feet of torque and has 7,400 pounds of towing power. The automatic stop/start system comes standard as does the eight-speed automatic and rear-wheel drive with optional all-wheel drive. The Durango sports a rear wheel drive system, a unique characteristic compared to many of its rivals which enhances its off-road capabilities. For even greater traction and handling, the Durango offers two optional All-wheel drive systems, one for each of the available engine choices. The V6 Engine comes standard with engine stop start, which helps to save fuel while the V8 is equipped with cylinder deactivation and fuel saver technology. The Durango offers best in class fuel economy with up to 27 HWY MPG.
Design of Dodge Durango
The Dodge Durango is made with comfort in mind. The spacious cabin features three rows of seats and comes standard (optional on the SXT) with a flip-and-fold second row of seats. The 5 inch touch screen puts logical menus and secondary controls at drivers' finger tips while the optional 8.4 inch Uconnect touch screen allows for voice controls and can be bundled with emergency assistance and stolen vehicle tracking. The Durango flaunts an ample 84.5 cubic feet of cargo capacity and with a generous 47.7 cubic feet behind the second row, there is plenty of room for passengers in the back. The Durango comes loaded with features at every trim level, with many standard features at some levels available as options in the other trims. 2017 sees the return of the Brass Monkey and Black Top appearance packages on the GT and R/T models. The Brass Monkey features 20-inch bronze-painted wheels, gloss-black grille and body colored trim. The Blacktop package features 20-inch black-painted wheels and a variety of other black trim pieces.
