New 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan at Lakeland Chrysler Jeep Dodge for Greenville, PA
Most people have heard that the best-selling and most-awarded minivan made is the Dodge Grand Caravan. The 2017 edition keeps that going and really pulls in a ton of amazing features, including the industry-exclusive Super Stow 'n Go seating. This Super Stow 'n Go feature makes room for seven occupants quickly and easily with the touch of a button, converting the space back and forth from cargo to people-mover as needed. There is a standard 6.5-inch touchscreen radio and a ParkView rear backup camera on all models. The Grand Caravan SXT has all of the standards that last year's SXT Plus model had, but throws in a security alarm and a remote starter. Further, the Grand Caravan GT model inherits all features of the the previous year's R/T model, plus picks up the 'Driver Convenience Group and Navigation' package. That trends overall towards more value for your money, something certainly appreciated and also refreshing.
Under the Grand Caravan's Hood
Under that stylish hood is a 3.6-liter V6 engine that packs 283 horsepower and sees 260 pound-feet of torque, for all four models of this year's Dodge Grand Caravan. Standard in 2017 is a touring-tuned suspension, heavy-duty engine cooling, and an always-on fuel optimizer calibration functionality. Power to the front wheels is given by a six-speed automatic transmission that is put in as standard. An option on all models is an engine block heater, which helps engines warm up before starting, increasing engine life. In Edmunds testing, a Grand Caravan went from zero to 60 mph in 8 seconds. The fuel economy estimated by the EPA is 20 mpg combined (17 city/25 highway), for the Grand Caravan lineup's strongest score.
Design of Dodge Grand Caravan
There are four fully decked-out Dodge Grand Caravan models made for 2017: the SE, SE Plus, GT and the SXT. The SE Plus contains the features of the SE model, then picks up alloy wheels, second-row captain's chairs, an extra floor console, rear-glass tinting, and upgraded upholstery. Backing up to the SE model shows that it has a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel with audio controls, 17-inch steel wheels, cruise control, heated mirrors, a 6-speaker audio system (with a CD unit & an aux jack), power locks, power front-windows and mirrors, tri-zone climate control (with AC all the way in the backseats), and a second-row bench seat with the Stow 'n Go. The SXT model has roof rails, power sliding-rear doors, a remote engine start, a power liftgate, leather upholstery, fog-lights, chrome exterior trim, and an eight-way power driver seat. The GT is performance-tuned as standard and builds on the SXT model's feature set with a rearview camera, an eight-way power passenger seat, a 115-volt household-style outlet, leather seating, a 6.5-inch touchscreen display, and an enhanced nine-speaker audio system.

Dodge has your safety always in mind, and it shows with the design of this solid minivan. It has been thoroughly tested for safety as well. A Dodge Grand Caravan stopped from 60 miles per hour in 123 feet in Edmunds brake tests. In government crash testing, the Grand Caravan received four out of five stars, with four stars for frontal impacts and five stars for side impacts. And in IIHS tests, the 2017 Dodge Grand Caravan achieved the highest score given in the moderate-overlap front-impact test, as well as for the side-impact, roof strength, and head restraint tests. After those tests, it's time to take a quick look at the Grand Caravan's comprehensive standard safety feature list that involves front-seat side airbags, all-rows side curtain airbags, remote keyless entry, active front head restraints, stability control, antilock disc brakes, and even a driver knee airbag. That's why going with Dodge in the Grand Caravan is a good idea, because at the end of the day, safety really is what is most important.
