Under the Wrangler's Hood
A 3.6-liter V6 engine comes standard on every 2017 Jeep Wrangler. This engine is good for 285 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. Also standard is four-wheel drive with high- and low-range gearing and a six-speed manual transmission. Optional is a five-speed automatic transmission that comes with hill descent control and hill start assist, as opposed to the six-speed manual that comes standard with only hill start assist. Towing capability for the traditional two-door Wrangler is 2,000 pounds. The 2017 Jeep Wrangler is also available with three different axle gear ratios: 3.21, 3.73, or 4.10. The Wrangler also holds a best-in-class record for navigating impressive angles of terrain, able to navigate an approach angle of 42.2 degrees, a 32.3 degree departure angle, and a 25.8 degree breakover angle.

Rough and rugged is the theme of the 2017 Jeep Wrangler. The two-door SUV is able to accommodate four passengers. Every Wrangler is available with the option of a hard or soft top. There are four trims in the 2017 lineup: Sport, Sport S, Sahara, and Rubicon, with the three core trims being all but the Sport S. The base Sport comes with tow hooks, removable full-metal doors, skid plates, a full-size spare tire, cruise control, cloth upholstery, a tilt steering wheel, an eight-speaker sound system, 16-inch steel wheels, and on/off-road tires. The Sahara adds automatic LED headlights, hood insulation for a quiet ride, satellite radio, LED foglights, keyless entry, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, heated power mirrors, power windows and locks, a security alarm, air-conditioning, additional painted exterior body panels, 18-inch alloy wheels, and an auto-dimming mirror. The Rubicon, built for off-roading, takes on the features of the Sport adjusting and adding special tires on 17-inch alloy wheels, an upgraded transfer case, an electronically disconnecting front sway bar, hood insulation, automatic LED headlamps, rock rails, a Dana 44 front axle, electronic front and rear locking differentials, air-conditioning, satellite radio, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.
