Under the 2500's Hood

Three engine options are available for the 2017 Ram 2500: a 5.7-liter V-8, a 6.4-liter V-8, and a 6.7-liter turbodiesel inline six-cylinder. Horsepower and torque for these engines are as follows: 383 hp and 400 lb-ft for the 5.7-liter V8, 410 hp and 429 lb-ft for the 6.4-liter V8, and 370 hp and 800 lb-ft for the 6.7-liter turbodiesel. Both gas engines are paired with a six-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel pairs with either a six-speed manual option or a choice of two six-speed automatic transmissions. Both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive models are available, although the Power Wagon comes automatically with four-wheel drive. The Ram 2500 can be configured to tow up to 17,980 pounds or haul up to 3,990 in the bed. RAM has integrated the trailer brake control into the information screen and there is an optional fifth wheel and gooseneck hinge socket for an optimal towing configuration. As for ride quality, the RAM 2500 excels at offering a top-of-the-line experience. One of the ways RAM accomplishes this is through its coil spring rear suspension. The suspension takes the edge off large bumps in the road, making the ride smooth and enjoyable. If you love off-roading, then the RAM Power Wagon is an amazing option. It's exclusively designed for all-terrain and includes specific body styling, all-terrain tires, electronically locking front and rear differentials with a 4.10 axle ratio, Bilstein off-road shock absorbers, a manual transfer case, hill descent control, and a front anti-roll bar that electronically disconnects. Or, for the more economical choice, you can just opt for the Power Wagon option on the crew-cab Tradesman 4x4 with a 6.4-liter Hemi engine. All the mechanical elements of the Power Wagon are included, minus the specialized body styling.

Design of RAM 2500

Ram has a great reputation for offering quiet and comfortable cabins. The front cabin of the RAM 2500 is open, and RAM fills the space with a well-designed dashboard. The latest 8.4 Uconnect infotainment system is one of the most user-friendly systems in the market today. The touchscreen has an amazing response time and its smartphone interfacing allows the driver to stay connected wherever he/she goes. As for the cab configuration, there are numerous options, depending on your needs. First, there is a two-door regular cab that has the long 8-foot bed. Then, there is a four-door crew cab, and a four-door jumbo crew cab called the Mega Cab, both offering more passenger space. The crew cab can be had with either the 8-foot bed or the shorter 6-foot 4-inch bed, while the Mega Cab can only be had with the shorter 6-foot 4-inch bed. The crew cab's rear seats are wide and spacious, while the Mega Cab is even more accommodating thanks to expanded legroom and reclining seatbacks. As for storage in the larger cabs, the rear seat bottoms fold up, and there are foldout platforms for a flat storage area. Also, Ram offers the RamBox cargo management system which includes locking cargo bins in the bed of the truck.
